🥴Has your child been complaining of back pain that comes and goes ? 😬Are you always telling your child to stand up straight so they don’t get back pain? 😮Have you had your child’s spine assessed by an Expert Paediatric Physiotherapist for their back pain?

Did you know that Scoliosis is the most common spinal deformity in children?😯 About 1 in 15 Australian girls develop some scoliosis during their growing period between 9 to 14 years, usually a year before they start menstruating. Scoliosis is less common in boys, and commonly develops a year before puberty. Scoliosis in the spine can cause back pain.

Idiopathic scoliosis is a medical term used to describe a type of scoliosis for which the exact cause is unknown. 🥴It is the most common form of scoliosis and typically develops during the growth spurt that occurs just before puberty. Idiopathic scoliosis can present with various curve patterns, including single or double curves. The curves can be classified based on their location in the spine (thoracic, lumbar, or thoracolumbar) and their direction (right or left).

The severity of idiopathic scoliosis varies. 🤔Some cases may be mild and require only monitoring, while others may progress and necessitate more proactive treatments, such as bracing or surgery. School screenings and clinical evaluations, often involving X-rays, are used to diagnose idiopathic scoliosis. Early detection is crucial for implementing appropriate management strategies.
