12 Jan 😵💫Experiencing constant ringing in your ear and occasional dizziness Passed your 👂hearing tests so it’s not Tinnitus and not an inner ear infection
👂Tinnitus is most often described as a ringing in the ears, even though no external sound is present. Tinnitus is a common problem. It affects about 15% to 20% of people, and is especially common in older adults. Did you know that the common causes for Tinnitus includes hearing loss, ear infection, ear canal blockage, head injuries, neck injuries and medications.🥺
Recently, at My Favourite Physio, we met a lady in her 30s who has been experiencing constant ringing in her ears and occasional dizziness that was impacting her lifestyle, causing her to feel anxiety and stress.🥴 She had seen various Medical Specialists including Neurologists and ENT Specialists. She’s had hearing tests, brain MRI scans, Spinal X-rays and CT scans which all came back negative. At the end, her medical specialists have advised her that the ringing sounds in her ear is something she has to live with as they are unable to diagnose the cause of it. Fortunately for her, a friend recommended that she sees one of our Expert Physiotherapists 🤓for a second opinion.
On examination, our Expert Physiotherapists was able to identify that her 2nd and 3rd neck joints were out of alignment which is one fo the common causes for Tinnitus. When we gently pushed on her 3rd neck joint, she reported that the ringing in her ear reduced.😁 At the end of the session, she reported being able stand up off the treatment bed without dizziness. Within 2 weeks, she reported the ringing in her ears and dizziness has stopped. She felt less tensed and stressed with activities of daily living. She is now able to enjoy her family and life as she envisioned it.
