Did you know that children aged 5 to 12 years old need to do at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activities a day to help them strong bones and healthy hearts
Studies show that children who participate in regular physical activities:
1. develop healthy bones, muscles and joints;
2. develop healthy heart and lungs;
3. develop better coordination and movement control;
4. maintain a healthy body weight;
5. have improved emotional health;
6. have increased self confidence and self-expression;
7. tend to adopt other healthy behaviours like avoiding tobacco, alcohol and drug use; and
8. demonstrate higher academic performance at school.
These days when computer games and social media are constantly vying for our children’s attention, it is important to help your child to stay active by encouraging them to exercise for at least an hour a day with homemade circuits consisting of running on the spot, hopping, jumping, skipping, step ups and jumping jacks.
If your child is struggling to enjoy 60 minutes of physical activity a day, because they have pain or because they are tripping and falling all the time, reach out to one of our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists at My Favourite Physio on (02) 9790 4233 or DM us @myfavouritephysio to find out how we can help your child overcome their pain and get active again!
