15 Nov Do you experience headaches and neck stiffness after lifting weights in your gym workouts
Does performing overhead shoulder exercises or shoulder pulls in the gym cause an onset of Headaches and neck pain the next day
If you answered YES to either questions above, then you may have poor control and strength in your shoulder blade muscles which leads to overcompensation of the neck muscles and joints that results in Headaches and Neck Pain
Poor shoulder blade muscle strength and control means that any sort of overhead or pulling exercise tends to trigger the neck muscles to work to compensate for the lack of strength and control in the shoulder muscles to achieve the desired range of overhead or pulling movement for the exercise. This results in a build up of muscle tightness and joint stiffness in the neck that eventually leads to triggering Headache episodes. Therefore to effectively eliminate post gym workout Headaches, both the neck and shoulder blade dysfunction have to be addressed for prevention and treatment of Headaches!
