Neck muscle strengthening involves correcting imbalances in the neck muscles and improving control of the deep neck muscles to increase the stability and movement in the neck joints. However, neck muscle strengthening exercises MUST only start once there is no more neck pain and only when you have achieved full range of movement in your neck. This is because often when there is neck pain, the deep neck muscles cannot activate correctly. And it is the deep neck muscles which are vital in improving the control and stability of the neck joints.
