If you answered yes, then you might have chronic ankle swelling that has formed scar tissue which is sitting in your ankle joint causing you a niggling ankle pain months after an ankle sprain.
Here are 3 ways to help reduce ankle swelling:
1. Ice
Using an ice pack wrapped in a tea towel, place the ice pack over your ankle joint for 10 to 15 minutes, 3 times a day. Ice causes constriction of the blood vessels which reduces the amount of swelling in the ankle joint.
2. Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound
Here at My Favourite Physio, our Expert Physiotherapists use a Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound machine to increase the blood flow in the ankle joint to promote soft tissue healing and reduce the swelling.
3. Kinesiology Taping
Kinesiology Tape has been show to reduce swelling in the ankle joint, but lifting the skin and increasing the blood flow in the joint.
