There are many different types of headaches and many more types of Headache treatments. Tension Headaches are one of the most common type of headaches.
Tension Headache sufferers often describe Tension Headaches as a sensation like a tight band around their heads or carrying a heavy weight on the top of the head. For some people,Tension Headache symptoms include severe head pain which stops them from being able to sleep and causes them to feel very tired. As a result, Tension Headaches can be very debilitating, resulting in absence from work, the inability to concentrate and drive for school drop offs and picks up.
Often people are told that Tension Headaches are a result of stress, poor posture, anxiety, fatigue, alcohol use, caffeine, jaw or dental problems. So the solutions that they are offered include learning to manage stress levels, sitting up straight, learning mediation to reduce anxiety, getting more sleep, eliminating alcohol and caffeine and seeing a dentist. However, most Tension Headache Sufferers will report that these strategies do little if anything to eliminate their Tension Headaches. This is because these strategies do not actually address the underlying cause of Tension Headaches.
Fortunately, recent research has found that dysfunction in the first 3 joints of the neck can cause Tension Headaches.
