27 Oct 🥳 21st to 29th October 2023 is Children’s Week! 👧 Children’s Week is a national celebration of 🧒children’s rights, talents and citizenship held on the fourth Wednesday of October in Australia to coincide with Universal Children’s Day. Each year the theme of Children’s Week highlights a particular Children’s Right.
The Children’s Week National Theme for 2023 is based on UNCRC Article 31: All Children have the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts. 🤗
Play is critical to a child’s 👧development and that’s recognised as a right by the United Nations. Through play children can learn to express creativity, explore learn social skills and make friends. It can be indoor or outdoor, organised or messy. It can involve rule making and rule breaking. Play helps build imagination, emotional, cognitive and physical ability, all skills that ensure children thrive.
Play is vital to a child’s development, so this Children’s Week, let’s encourage all children you know to relax play and get involved in the things they enjoy. 😃
