😳Every 20 hours, an Australian child is born with cerebral palsy. 1 in 700 Australian babies is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, it is the most common physical disability in childhood. 1 in 2 is in chronic pain. 1 in 3 cannot walk. 1 in 4 cannot talk.The statistics are confronting and it is the basis of why medical specialists 👨‍⚕️tend to give parents a conservative prognosis on their child’s future capabilities. However, the fact is the human brain 🧠is extremely pliable, meaning the brain can learn, grow and develop based on the experiences and intervention a child receives from Day 1.

Here at My Favourite Physio, 🤓we believe that Intensive Early Intervention can change the course of a child’s life, especially children with Cerebral Palsy. A great example is Miss S who came to us at 2.5 years old with a diagnosis of Level 5 Cerebral Palsy. She was not yet able to roll, to sit up by herself, to stand on her feet at that point in time. She could sit with support. At that point in time, it was predicted that she will not walk and will need a wheelchair. We commenced intensive Early Intervention Physiotherapy 💪with Miss S, focusing on reducing the stiffness in her arms and legs, increasing her core muscle strength, teaching her to sit, move to crawling, pull to stand and walk. Fast forward 14 months, Miss S is able to sit independently, crawl independently, walk with a walker independently. She is now classified as having Level 3 Cerebral Palsy. We are continuing to work towards having her achieve independent walking without aids. All this is achieved without Botox injections, without medications, just effective Paediatric Physiotherapy Strategies.🤗
