16 Feb Have you been told that you can’t overfeed a breastfed baby🤔 Have you noticed that to your baby 👶🏻is spitting up large amounts of milk 20-30minutes after feeds 😧
Mothers who breastfeed 🤱are frequently told “it’s not possible to overfeed your baby” but this is not entirely true in every situation. 🙅♀️ If your baby is healthy and content he’s not overfeeding. He may be gaining large amounts of weight and/or spit up occasionally and this can be perfectly normal.
However, if your baby is gaining large amounts of weight ⚖️and also experiences gastric symptoms, such as tummy pains, excessive gas, 🥴greenish watery bowel movements or spitting up large amounts,🤮 he may be feeding too frequently.
Here at My Favourite Physio, our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists🤓 often see babies whose parents are concerned that baby 👶🏻has a flattened head shape and are delayed in their gross motor skills. In the course of carrying out a full assessment, one common trend we find is that parents report that baby is not tolerating 😭Tummy Time because of “reflux” or vomiting 🤮large volumes of milk after feeds. For some babies this is due to over feeding rather than “reflux”.
Our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists 🤓would often help parents work out a better feeding schedule for baby 👶🏻which will reduce the excessive feeding and vomiting to allow baby to be able to play on their tummy and start to learn to roll, sit, crawl and walk.
If you know someone with a baby 👶🏻who is breastfeeding and constantly vomiting volumes of milk, like 💕and share this post with them!
