🤕Experiencing daily headaches and migraines that requires you to take pain killers to just function each day 😬Been told that your headaches and migraines are a result of your work duties, so you should consider a career change

4.9 million Australians experience migraine and up to 7 million Australians experience tension-type headaches. 🥴Nearly all those with migraine and 60% of those with tension-type headache experience reductions in social activities and work capacity. So it’s not uncommon for our Expert Physiotherapists🤓 to meet patients who report that they have been told to consider quitting their jobs to reduce their incidence of headaches and migraines.

Recently, we met a gentlemen in his 40s who presented with neck pain, headaches and migraines. He owned a Restaurant and was a chef 👨‍🍳by profession. He experienced daily headaches and migraines at least 3 times a week, requiring pain killers to simply be able to get out of bed to go to work. He has tried chiropractic treatments, which gives him temporary relief of his headaches for 30 minutes but the migraines episodes did not change.

On our initial consult, we carried out a full assessment and found that his first 3 neck joints were rotated out of alignment. He has increased muscle tightness in his neck and shoulder muscles. So we carried out the Watson’s Headache Approach, 🤓where we used gentle pressures on his first 3 necks joint to re-align his neck joint. He reported an increase and then a reduction of his headache symptoms in his first session. This demonstrated that his headaches and migraines were actually coming from his first 3 neck joints. We also massaged his neck and shoulder muscles using a combination of soft tissue massage and Radial Shockwave Therapy. Within 2 weeks, with 3 times a week Physiotherapy sessions, he reported no more headaches and migraines! 🤗He was surprised that he no longer needed pain killers each day and he was able to carry on working as a chef in his Restaurant!
