Have you noticed that your little one 👶🏻 is often standing on tip toes even when they are not reaching for something high on a shelf😬

Is your little one 👶🏻just starting to learn to walk and they seem to be on their tip toes most of the time⏱
Is everyone joking 🤣about how you have a little ballerina 👯‍♀️in the making because your child is on their tip toes all the time🤔

It’s not uncommon to see babies 👶🏻 and toddlers 👧 walk on their tip toes when they are learning to walk. However it is important to NOT allow them to continue to walk on their tip toes because Tip Toe walking damages baby’s 👶🏻 foot bones 👣 and causes the foot bones to develop abnormally. Bones develop in the line of pull of the muscles and are shaped according to the pressures placed on them.

The foot bones don’t ossify ( become hard bones) until 5 years old, so the first 5 years are important years during which the foot bones are being shaped by the pressure placed on them. Once the foot bones 👣 are formed, it is too late to try to correct or reshape them.

There are many different reasons why babies 👶🏻 and toddlers 👦 walk on their toes, and diffferent reasons require different treatment strategies to correct toe walking. If left uncorrected, Toe walking will cause tight calf muscles that impacts the child’s ability to run, hop and jump at 5-6 years old. As the child grows up, they will experience foot 😳 pain, knee 😳 pain and back 😳 pain as an adult.

The earlier Toe walking is corrected the easier it is to correct and the better the outcomes are for your 👶🏻 child.
