β Confucius.
Babyβs first steps are one of the most precious moments and biggest milestone in life!
Being able to stand up from the ground to walk off in search of what caught your eye is the start of a lifetime of exploration and independence for a child.
For many children, learning to walk seems like a natural progression for them. However, for some children pulling to stand or even putting weight on their feet to stand seem like a struggle.
There are many reasons why a child may struggle to learn to stand or walk,
but none is because they are lazy. Often there is an underlying muscle weakness or adaptive habits like bottom shuffling that is holding the child back from learning to walk.
All toddlers should be walking independently by 18-19 months old otherwise they would be considered to be delayed in their gross motor skills
So if your child is not yet walking at 19 months, donβt wait any longer, reach out to one of our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists at My Favourite Physio on (02) 9790 4233 today! Let us help your child with that first step.
