Are you nursing a broken ankle or foot? 👣

Did your child 🧑fall over and broke a leg or arm? Is your elderly parent 👵🏻struggling at home with a knee splint for a broken kneecap that’s taking a long time to heal? 😳

Broken bones or hairline cracks in the bones are different types of fractures. When a bone is broken or fractured, the goal is to stabilise the fracture and ensure the broken bones are close to each other and in correct alignment for bone healing. 💪 When in correct alignment, bone healing takes 🕰 6-8 weeks to heal when you are 18-21 years old. Younger children tend to heal faster, taking 4-6 weeks for bone healing to occur. Older adults who are above 60 years old, bone healing may take 8-10 weeks or longer to heal.😳😳😳 People who have osteoporosis ( low bone density) will take even longer to heal.

Here at My Favourite Physio, we see many clients with broken bones and we get great outcomes 🎉 for our clients by using Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound (LIPUS) to help promote bone healing. LIPUS works by delivering a alternating pulse of low intensity ultrasound waves into the bone and surrounding injured soft tissues to increase micro circulation to bring about faster soft tissue and bone healing. 😊 So if a broken bone is holding you back from doing what you enjoy or decreasing your quality of life, reach out to My Favourite Physio to speak to one of our Expert Physiotherapists to find if LIPUS could help you or your loved ones today! 😊
