15 Nov Feeling tired this morning and wishing you didn’t have to get out of bed to go to the gym
Maybe it’s cold outside and it’s warmer in bed and the thought of having to train in the cold is enough to send shivers down your spine
Lying in bed for that 5 minutes after the alarm goes can mean that you start to talk yourself out of going to attend training and justifying why it’s ok not to attend today. Before you know it, you’ve made up your mind to call in sick because you don’t feel too well…. that slight sniffle might be the start of a cold so best to stay and rest up, you convince yourself.
However, great achievements didn’t come to those who don’t consistently persistently turned up for training rain, hail or shine. Staying in bed and not turning up was never an option for champions. What champions do is when the alarm goes, they jump out of bed and get on with getting ready for their day. They start their day ready to win!
Here’s 3 Top Tips to help you become a champion and own your day
1. Plan for your day in advance.
The day before prepare yourself by going to bed earlier if you have to wake up early in the morning. Say no to late night social events if it means you will wake up feeling hung over.
2. Go to bed excited about the event.
Tell yourself that it’s going to be a great training session and mentally visualise yourself crushing it at training. This will train your mindset to win and rule out the self doubt talk in the morning.
3. Don’t hit the snooze button on your alarm.
When the alarm goes off in the morning, get out of bed immediately and avoid allowing yourself to lie in bed for 5 more minutes. This is the moment when the self doubt and negative talk starts to invade your mind. Eliminate that opportunity by jumping straight into a hot shower to get ready for your day.
