22 Dec Experiencing Headaches and Migraines every month in line with your menstrual cycles each month
Been told that you are experiencing Hormonal Migraines and the only solution is to take medications for it
Here at My Favourite Physio, our Expert Physiotherapist recently met a lady in her thirties who reported having Migraines for the past 3-4 years. Her migraines got worse with her first pregnancy, and become more persistent, daily migraines after the birth of her baby. On top of that, her Migraine symptoms were worse a week before her menstrual cycles and during her menstrual cycles.
She had seen many medical specialists including a Neurologist, and an ENT, had brain scans and X-rays to investigate the cause of her Migraines. She was told that there is nothing sinister to cause her migraine symptoms, so she must just have Hormonal Migraines and the only solution is to take medications. She has been taking the medications for her migraines but they have little impact on her migraine symptoms.
She is now planning a second pregnancy and she hoping to stop the migraine medications as they were not safe for pregnancy. She wanted to try a medication free approach for her Hormonal Migraines. So our Expert Physiotherapists carried out our 3 Step Migraine Free Assessment and found that her first 3 neck joints were slightly out of alignment along with increased muscle tightness in her neck and shoulder muscles. We commenced her on a 6 week Medication Free Migraine Treatment Program, using Radial Shockwave Therapy and soft tissue massage to release her tight muscles, as well as the Watson Approach For Headaches And Migraines for her misaligned neck joints, we were able to reduce and eliminate her daily Migraines completely in 2 weeks! After completing the 6 week program, she was completely free of neck and shoulder pain as well as her Migraines. She also successfully feel pregnant 4 weeks into out treatment program, which was a pleasant surprise for her and her husband.
