29 Dec Still experiencing headaches and migraines years after a head injury
Been told that you have to live with headaches and migraines as a result of that head injury
Did you know that headaches are one of the most common symptoms after traumatic brain injury (often called post-traumatic headache). Over 30% of people report having headaches which continue long after injury. Headaches and migraines can occur even in cases of mild to moderate head injuries.
Recently, we met a young man in his 20s who complained of constant daily headaches and migraines for as long as he could remember. When we ask him if he ever had a fall or car accident or head injury in the past. He said that his mother has always told him how as a child, he fell out of a building 4 storey high and didn’t break a bone! Everyone thought it was a miracle! This trauma is likely to be the cause of his constant headaches.
Using our 3 Step Headache Elimination Assessment, we were able to determine that his first 3 neck joints were out of alignment resulting in Cervicogenic Headaches which he was experiencing. Using the Watson Headache Approach, Radial Shockwave Therapy, Soft Tissue Massage and Joint Mobilisation we were able to successfully realign his neck joints, release muscle tightness and reduce inflammation in his neck and shoulder muscles. After completing our 6 week treatment program, he reported no more headaches, no more use of painkillers and increased freedom to move his neck and shoulders.
