06 Jan Struggling with ideas to entertain the kids this Summer School Holidays
Wondering what you can do to help your children make this school year better than the last
Did you know that Summer Reading Slump is a phenomenon that has been extensively documented
Summer Reading Slump refers to the decline in learning and literacy during the summer, in the absence of school. Research has shown that throughout Summer months, all children backslide in math — but in literacy, the gap between high and low socio-economic status children widens. Low-income students, who may not have the same level of access to books and literacy resources, tend to decline more than wealthier peers.
So to combat Summer Reading Slump here are some great Summer Reading Activities available:
1.The City of Canterbury Bankstown has a Summer Reading Club that encourages and rewards reading. Register online to read books and stories of your choice during the summer. For more information, go to https://www.cbcity.nsw.gov.au/…/pro…/summer-reading-club
