Have you been told that the birth process is stressful to the baby’s spine so it needs immediate adjustments to help baby sleep better
Research has shown that there is no evidence that babies’ spines needs adjustments nor is there any benefits from “adjustments” to baby’s spine. However, there has been cases of spinal damage and injury to babies from spinal manipulations
Babies are born with a long ‘C’ shaped spine and not an ‘S’ shaped spines like adults have. This is why babies appear curled up, because gravity has not yet lengthened and changed their spines. As babies grow, their neck spine develops first and it will take until after baby’s first birthday, when they are walking by themselves for the lower back spine to develop forming the ‘S’ shape of an adult spine.
Baby’s ‘C’ shaped spine is normal for their age, so pulling their spine to straighten it or to “crack it into alignment” is unnecessary and can actually damage baby’s spinal cord causing life long injuries.
