Today in Australia, blood cancer is one of the top 4 most frequently diagnosed cancers and is one of the leading causes of death by cancer in our country. Every day another 41 Australians are told they have blood cancer (that’s one person every 36 minutes) and sadly 20 people will lose their life to blood cancer daily. Right now, more than 110,000 Australians are living with blood cancer or related disorders. By 2035, these figures will more than double, seeing close to 100 people per day diagnosed with blood cancer and more than 40 people will die every day.
The Leukaemia Foundation is working towards the goal of Zero Lives Lost to Blood Cancer by 2035. In 2021, the Leukaemia Foundation will celebrate 23 years of the World’s Greatest Shave campaign. People of all ages will shave, colour, or wax the hair on their head, chest or face – supported all the way by proud family, friends, colleagues and classmates. Some will have a personal connection to blood cancer, while others take part simply to have fun, tick a bucket list box and raise money for a good cause.
When you sign up and raise money for the World’s Greatest Shave you’re giving people living with blood cancer the emotional and practical support they need. By raising money through World’s Greatest Shave, you are helping to ensure that families facing blood cancer have a place to call home during treatment, someone to turn to, and access to the best possible care and treatment. You will also be helping to drive funding for Australia’s best and brightest researchers in their quest to deliver rapid advancements in diagnosis, treatment, and ultimately a cure.
Here at My Favourite Physio, our team proudly supports and sponsors the World’s Greatest Shave by sponsoring Trinity Grammar School in their World’s Greatest Shave event https://secure.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/…/TeamFundrai…
