If at first you don’t succeed, try, and try, and try again.
Did you know that Thomas Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts before inventing the light bulb. And when a reporter asked him “How did it feel to fail a 1,000 times?” Thomas replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times, the light bulb was invented with a 1,000 steps.”
So don’t feel ashamed about the fact that you’ve failed – only feel guilty if you haven’t yet got back up and had another go. Along the way to your success, you might need to discard or distant yourself from “reporters” like the one who interviewed Thomas Edison who only focused on your “failures” rather than celebrate your attempts at getting closer to your goals!
Failure is an important ingredient in building resilience, determination and long-term stamina, so pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and make today your new start.
