🥴Experiencing elbow pain and you’re wondering how did that happen because you don’t do anything!
🙋‍♀️Hands up if you struggle to lift up your morning cup of coffee because of the sharp shooting pain from your elbow!
🙋Hands up if you can’t recall any trauma which might have caused your elbow pain.
🙋‍♂️Hands up if you are starting to feel frustrated that your elbow pain is persisting despite having treatment

If you have put your hand up in any of the 3 statements above, you are not alone. Here at My Favourite Physio, we see many people with elbow pain. The most common question they have is “How did this elbow pain happen?” 🤔because they feel that they don’t do anything strenuous that could contribute to their elbow pain. However, not knowing what caused your elbow pain means that you are likely to be doing the same activity that is causing it each day!

3 Key Features of Activities that causes of Elbow Pain
1. Repetitive actions that you are doing each day at work or at home. This refers to the constant tasks that you do each day that is unavoidable. Examples include painting if you are a painter, or scrubbing, cleaning and cooking if you are a stay at home mum.

2. Low grade activity which often isn’t heavy weights or strenuous work. It’s seldom lifting a heavy weight at the gym that brought on the pain in your elbow, rather it is the low load jobs that you do each day. Examples include using a screwdriver if you are a handyman, or as a parent, stirring a pot when cooking dinner for the family.

3. Small movements that involve your wrists and hands. It’s not the big movements like carrying a box from one room to another, rather it is the smaller movements at the wrist and hands that strains the elbow muscles in your forearm. Examples include typing if you are an office worker, or using your mobile phone to text because you tend to post on social media frequently.
