Did you know that Concussions can lead to Headaches and Migraines
A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that affects your brain function. Effects are usually temporary but can include headaches and problems with concentration, memory, balance and coordination.
Concussions are usually caused by a blow to the head. Violently shaking the head and upper body also can cause concussions. Some concussions cause you to lose consciousness, but most do not. It’s possible to have a concussion and not realize it.
Concussions are particularly common if you play a contact sport, such as rugby or it can happen in workplace injuries or car accidents. Most people usually recover fully after a concussion.
Often after concussion it is very normal for a person to start complaining of headaches and migraines. This is because with a concussion injury a whiplash associated movement can result in the alteration of the neck joints!
Symptoms associated with your headaches and migraines can include:
– nausea
– fuzzy/fogginess/lack of clarity
– jaw tightness
– increase in sensitivity to light, sound and smell
The good news is that all these symptoms and most importantly your headaches and migraines can be treated successfully by addressing the neck joint issue!
