28 Feb Have you been told that your child has Cerebral palsy 🧐 Do you worry 😨 about your child’s future and ability to walk 👣
Cerebral palsy describes a group of disorders that affect movement and muscle tone or posture. Cerebral Palsy is considered a neurological disorder caused by a non-progressive brain 🧠injury or malformation that occurs while the child’s brain is under development – before birth, during birth, or immediately after birth. Cerebral palsy’s effect on function varies greatly, with some individuals able to walk while others requiring a wheelchair for mobility.
Research has shown that early intervention makes a difference in the gross motor function 🚶♂️achieved by each child 👶🏻with Cerebral palsy because the brain is capable of change and learning new information and skills. Here at My Favourite Physio, our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists 🤓have been privileged to be able to share in and impact positively the outcomes in many children with Cerebral palsy.
An example is Miss B, 👧 who is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and her parents were told that both her arms and legs are affected and it’s a likelihood that she will need a wheelchair for mobility. Miss B started Physiotherapy at My Favourite Physio at 18 months old, and our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists 🤓 worked hard with her and her family in an intensive Individuality tailored program for her. And she successfully achieved independent walking at 3 years old without a walking aid! Her medical specialist was surprised when she walked into her clinic for a review!
