❄️Has this winter seen your child constantly on rounds of antibiotics to clear their chest colds?🤧 🥺Has your child with special needs been in and out of hospital because of recurrent chest infections and flu like symptoms? 🥱Are you feeling exhausted with disrupted sleep because your child who is waking up frequently coughing?

Statistics from Sydney Hospitals show that in the past week alone, a total of 1,747 children under 4 years old were admitted into hospitals. 1,049 were admitted for Influenza, 551 were admitted for RSV, and 147 were admitted for COVID. Parents of children with special needs particularly would have had a challenging time with keeping their little one’s chest clear and avoid hospitalisations this winter.

Here at My Favourite Physio, our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists 🤓know only too well the devastating impact of recurrent chest infections on little ones with special needs. For some of our little ones with complex needs, an infection like RSV can result in weeks on a ventilator in Paediatric Intensive Care Units. While for other little ones with special needs, a chest infection can mean weeks of lethargy, seizures, regression of gross motor skills and increase in behavioural tantrums. As such, we are extremely proactively with ensuring that we keep our little ones well and their chest clear by providing Chest Physiotherapy.

Chest Physiotherapy includes Postural Drainage, Percussion, Vibrations, Rib Springing and High Flow Humidified Air. Using a combination of these strategies, we have been able to keep many of our littles one well and out of the hospital this winter. 💪
