Noticed your Little One walking on their toes 🦶 Is your child complaining of calf muscle 🦵pain at the end of a busy day of sports ⚽️

Did you know that toe walking can cause your child to have tight calf muscles🤔 Over time, left uncorrected toe walking not only overworks the calf muscles, it can also cause the foot and ankle bones to start to develop incorrectly which will impact on how the knee and hip joints form. This ultimately results in knee pain, hip pain and back pain in adolescence and adulthood 😳

In the shorter term, toe walking affects your child’s balance and gross motor skills development. Often children who toe walk are unable to jump, hop, skip or run as efficiently as their peers who do not toe walk. They also tend to trip and fall over more often then children who do not toe walk. 🙁 This can sometimes result in a child being excluded from games and sports in the playground which can affect a child’s confidence and self esteem.

The Great News 🎉 is that Toe Walking and the resulting tight calf muscles can be effectively treated to prevent secondary complications like knee pain, hip pain, delayed gross motor skills development to help your child increase their participation in sports and in the playground.
