Is your child with Autism physically aggressive towards you Are you resigned to accepting that your child with Autism tends to hit you when they are frustrated?

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can display a range of behaviours, and physical aggression is one of them. It’s important to recognise that each child with autism is unique, and there is a wide variation in how ASD manifests. Some children with autism may exhibit physical aggression, which can include hitting, biting, kicking, or other forms of aggressive behaviour.

Here are some factors that may contribute to physical aggression in children with autism:
️1. Communication Challenges:
Children with autism often struggle with communication skills. If they are unable to express their needs, feelings, or frustrations verbally, they may resort to physical behaviors as a way of communicating.

2. Sensory Overload:
Certain sensory stimuli, such as loud noises, bright lights, or crowded spaces, can overwhelm them. Physical aggression might be a way of coping with sensory overload.

3. Difficulty with Social Skills:
Children with autism may have difficulty understanding social cues and interacting with others. Physical aggression can sometimes result from challenges in navigating social situations.

4. Anxiety and Stress:
Changes in routine or unfamiliar situations can cause anxiety and stress for individuals with autism. Physical aggression may be a response to these heightened emotions.

‍⚕️5. Medical Issues:
Some children with autism may have co-occurring medical issues or discomfort that they cannot express verbally, leading to frustration and aggression.
