It’s nearly Christmas!🎄 Still trying to figure out what gifts to get your little one 👶🏻or perhaps you are a grandparent and wanting to get your little grandchild a great gift 🎁for this Christmas that would last for longer than 10 minutes before it breaks…🤦‍♀️

Here’s a list of Great Christmas Gift ideas that are staple favourites that our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists here at My Favourite Physio frequently recommend for little ones..

Newborns: 🤱
Little wrist rattles that wrap around baby’s wrists,
Sock rattles that baby wears to encourage hand to feet movements,
Small handheld rattles and balls that have little handles for baby’s hands.👐

3-4 months old: 👶🏻
Small blocks that have push down tops so baby can hit them and see it spin,
Medium Standing mirror so baby can see 👀themselves when on tummy time,
Musical toys that will flash and attract baby’s attention.

5-6 months old:👶🏻
Stackable ring toys that light up and sing,🎼
Fishbowl type toys where baby can put a ball in and out of the bowl,
🔺Shape sorter box toys where baby can put the shapes in and out without the lid.

7-8 months old: 👶🏻
Motorised toy trains or animals that will move to encourage baby to crawl,
Simple balls that will just roll away to encourage baby to crawl,
Play tables so baby will crawl on their hands and knees to reach up to the table top.

9-10 months old:👶🏻
Small Kitchen/fridge toys that when placed on a sofa encourages baby to pull to stand to play,
Books 📚that have touch and feel pages that can be placed on tables to encourage baby to stand to look and touch.

11-12 months old: 👶🏻
Push along walkers that encourage baby to push and walk,
Ride on cars 🚗to sit on and push along with their feet.

Lastly, we could not finish this list without mentioning the two toys to AVOID BUYING for Little ones at all times – Baby Walker/ Play Station where the wheels on a Baby Walker is replaced with suction cups and Jolly Jumpers. These toys do not help Baby to learn to walk and in fact delays Baby’s gross motor skills development.

Happy Shopping! 🛍
