15 Nov Had a fall 6 months ago and still experience back pain from it
Tried all types of therapies for that back pain and still struggling to straighten up to walk 6 months later
Starting to feel depressed that life will never be the same again because of your back injury
If you answered Yes to the above statements, you are not alone! Recently, here at My Favourite Physio we met a lady who came to our clinic for a second opinion. 6 months ago, she slipped on a wet floor and fell onto her bottom hurting her tailbone. She experienced a sharp pain and needed help to get up from the floor. Since then she had been struggling to walk and was unable to straighten up because of the back pain. She had seen different therapists including an acupuncturist, a chiropractor and a massage therapist. She had multiple treatments over the 6 months without any significant improvements and in fact was worse now than when she first hurt her back. She was unable to walk without pain and was unable to work full time due to her back pain.
Our Expert Physiotherapist carried out a full assessment on her first visit where she reported that her back pain came from her lower back around her hip and down her leg. We determined that she had muscle spasm in her mid to her lower back, muscle tightness and pain in her buttock muscles down to her thigh muscles, joint stiffness in her lower back and chronic swelling and inflammation in her tailbone area. We treated her muscle tightness, swelling and chronic inflammation using Radial Shockwave Therapy which gave her immediate pain relief as she got up off the treatment bed. We also worked on her stiff lower back joints to relief her pain and increase her range of movement in her lower back. Within 2 week of Physiotherapy treatments, she was completely pain free and able to walk straight and return to working full time. She completed the full 6 week treatment program and has since returned to active living keeping up with her young children.
